Scrap Iron was the title given to a series of three exhibitions of metal sculpture initiated by Frank McEwen in 1972, towards the end of his tenure as Director of the National Gallery of Rhodesia. He had resigned from this position before the 1973 exhibition.
The first exhibition attracted entries from 52 artists, as young as 8 years old, primarily from the white community. The first and second exhibitions were won by Arthur da Silva Azevedo and the third by Olivia Watson. These exhibitions were sponsored by Rhodesia Oxygen (Rhodox) which later became Oxyco Industries (Pvt.) Ltd.
